Situation

Employee Retirement System of Georgia (ERSGA) needed expertise of a company that could efficiently document critical business processes for the restructuring of their organization. The project’s objectives were: Document critical business processes and procedures; develop training materials for the processes and procedures; and conduct training classes for the processes and procedures. 3d Performance was awarded the contract after ERSGA had restructured their organization.

The documentation was intended to serve as a reference guide for the current business processes, provide cross-training for employees acquiring new job responsibilities, and serve as a training reference for new employees hired into the organization.  

3dP’s Approach

As the project began, several of the business processes were re-sequenced and the order of documentation changed. These changes impacted both the 3d Performance team and the ERSGA team by concentrating most of the documentation efforts within one division. Although the business process steps remained the same, the functional groups performing the steps of the process had changed.

Results

3d Performance completed all business process documentation on time and within budget. However, the training guide development and delivery portions of the project were placed on hold by direction of ERSGA. Training materials had been developed for two of the business processes.
